Dexter Southfield has many clubs that vary from Chess Club to Yearbook to Art Club. Each club offers its own unique experience that helps students reach goals. Some of the clubs that are staples to Dexter Southfield include Community Service Club, Model UN, GAINS, and Morgan’s Message. We also offer new clubs as of the fall of 2024, including Animal Welfare, Cultural Fusion, and Sustainability Club. The clubs at Dexter Southfield create a community of support and goal-oriented learning.
Interested in science? Then there are many options for you. This includes GAINs, standing for Girls Advancing in STEM, run by Ms. Guy during Monday Common Block. GAINs has periodic guest speakers, lessons, and projects that are not only fun, but encourage girls to step into the field of science. Chemistry Club, run by Mr. Brutschea and Mr. Navarette during Monday Common Block, and Robotics Club, run by Mr. McLean and Mr. Sanchez, are also great options to have fun in science.
Animal Welfare club, run by Ms. Frissora and student leaders Mary Alice Yoo and Zoey Georgantas, meets weekly during Tuesday’s Conference Block to discuss animal cruelty cases. They host guest speakers and are even planning a trip to the New England Aquarium. Sustainability Club, run by Mr. Warns with student leaders Haley Byrne and Izzy Georgantas, also has trips off campus. They go to beaches, parks, and more to pick up trash and clean the community.
If you love debate and writing, then you should join Model UN. In the club run by Mr. Williams and Ms. Koehler you will learn not only about debate but about our world and countries views on different issues. Members sign up for conferences at the beginning of the year and, as they get closer to their conference date, work on writing position papers based on the opinions of their assigned country. Conferences are hosted at colleges and universities like Dartmouth, Brown, Georgetown, BU, and more.
For further information, a list of the clubs offered at Dexter Southfield can be found on the app, on the first page under the label “2024-2025 Clubs.”
